Mobile GIS Services, a Liverpool-based provider of geospatial software catering to utility companies, has successfully raised £600K in funding. The investment comes from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, managed by Mercia and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund.
This infusion of capital is earmarked for the development of an innovative system in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). With a staff of 14, Mobile GIS Services anticipates creating 11 additional jobs in the upcoming year thanks to this financial backing.
Under the leadership of CEO Mike Darracott, Mobile GIS Services leverages satellite data and mapping technologies to help operators mitigate potential risks, such as construction activities near underground cables or power lines. Notable clients include Northumbrian Water Group, Wales and West Utilities, Severn Trent Water, Galliford Try, the National Trust, and the South West Peatland Partnership.
By harnessing high-resolution satellite imagery from the ESA, Mobile GIS Services aims to provide utility firms worldwide with a comprehensive ‘eye in the sky,’ facilitating efficient monitoring while also reducing carbon emissions by minimizing the need for helicopter flyovers.
This funding injection follows three years of sustained growth, during which Mobile GIS Services has witnessed a remarkable increase in annual recurring revenue, surpassing 300%
