SafetyCulture, a global technology firm based in Manchester, has raised £85 million in a funding round to support its international expansion and further develop AI solutions for frontline workers. The investment round, led by Airtree Ventures with participation from existing investors Blackbird and Morpheus Ventures, will help the company expand its services to larger enterprise clients and reward long-term employees. This funding follows the company’s recent achievement of a £1.3 billion valuation, confirming its unicorn status.
In the UK, over 25,000 businesses, including the NHS, National Grid, British Airways, and Transport for London, utilize SafetyCulture’s platform. The Manchester office, which houses the EMEA team, is instrumental in broadening the company’s presence across the region.
The new funding will support SafetyCulture’s efforts to enhance its AI-driven features, such as mobile-first training tools and automated inspection templates, which were launched in 2023. These innovations aim to streamline workplace procedures and improve the productivity of frontline employees.
Luke Anear, SafetyCulture’s Founder and CEO, noted that the funding allows the company to pursue further growth opportunities despite the challenging fundraising environment. He emphasized that the company is committed to transforming frontline work across various industries, a mission facilitated by its direct reach to workers.
SafetyCulture currently supports 85,000 businesses and nearly two million users globally. Its platform helps organizations manage safety, quality, and operational checks, with recent AI developments aimed at enhancing data interaction, improving workplace safety, and increasing productivity.
Anear highlighted the potential of AI to revolutionize frontline work, stating that SafetyCulture has amassed one of the world’s largest repositories of workplace data. The use of AI is intended to make sense of this vast amount of information, empowering frontline teams with improved tools.
SafetyCulture performs over a billion checks annually and delivers around 85,000 lessons per day, generating actionable insights for various corrective actions. The company employs about 800 people across six global offices and has recently created 100 new roles to address rising demand.
Kell Reilly, a partner at Airtree Ventures, expressed confidence in SafetyCulture’s growth trajectory, citing its strong vision, product offering, scale, and team. He sees this investment as a timely opportunity to support a company that demonstrates significant potential on the global stage.
SafetyCulture’s focus on AI and workplace safety underscores its position as an innovator in the safety technology sector, with the company setting a target to reach 100 million users by 2032.
