Ultrahuman, the Indian wearable startup, is diversifying its product line with the upcoming release of the Ultrahuman Home, a connected device designed to monitor the health of your living space. Unveiled at CES, this sleek hardware resembles a metallic Wi-Fi router or Apple TV, offering functionality beyond its appearance. Priced at $349, the Ultrahuman Home is set to ship in July.
The device incorporates sensors to track natural and artificial light, air pollution, noise, humidity, and smoke within the room. Data is then transmitted to the Ultrahuman app, presenting users with space “scores” and actionable insights. While Ultrahuman’s existing wearables focus on the quantified self trend, the Home serves as both a complement to the smart ring and a standalone in-home tracker. It assesses the overall healthiness of the home environment, providing personalized advice to enhance sleep quality and wellness.
According to CEO and founder Mohit Kumar, the Ultrahuman Home aims to integrate with home automation systems in the future. This expansion into environmental monitoring sets Ultrahuman apart from its wearable competitors, potentially enhancing the accuracy of its algorithms through additional data points.
Unlike its rivals, Ultrahuman adopts a no-subscription approach for both the smart ring and the Ultrahuman Home. This strategy allows for increased sales through gifting, as users are not burdened with subscription fees. The company’s offline sales approach, in collaboration with retail partners, has also contributed to its growing user base.
Kumar emphasizes that the Ultrahuman Home is a static device, specifically designed to monitor and track changes in a particular room’s environment. Addressing privacy concerns, the device features a hardware button to disable the microphone, ensuring that sound data is processed locally and not uploaded to servers.
For larger households, multiple Ultrahuman Home devices may be required, but at $349 each, users are likely to focus on monitoring key living spaces. The company prioritizes privacy by allowing users to control the device’s microphone and connectivity features manually.
