
Backflip, a Charlotte-based real estate fintech company, has raised $10M in equity funding.
The round was led by FirstMark Capital, LiveOak Venture Partners, and Vertical Venture Partners. The company plans to use the capital to expand operations and support ongoing product development.
Founded in 2020, Backflip operates a real estate financial technology platform designed for property-focused entrepreneurs. The platform gives users access to technology, data, and financing strategies to grow their businesses in single-family housing. According to the company, its tools help users source, analyze, and finance residential investments aimed at improving local housing supply and community-level outcomes.
Backflip also introduced changes to its leadership team. The company announced that “Jake Rome” was promoted to CEO, effective July 2025.
In addition, “Richard Porteous” was promoted to CIO as part of the firm’s broader platform expansion.
