Stockholm-based Enkei has closed a pre-seed funding round. However, the company did not disclose the total amount raised.
The round saw participation from RadCap, along with several angel investors. These include Anders Lendager, Christina Åqvist, Ulf Mattsson, Fabian Månsson, Thomas Granfeldt, and Daniel Strömberg.
According to the company, the pre-seed round values Enkei at €3 million.
Enkei plans to use the funds to expand its operations. In addition, it will invest in product development to strengthen its material offerings.
Founded by Lovisa Sunnerholm and Miriam Bichsel, Enkei develops materials for architecture and interior design. The company focuses on reusing construction and ceramic waste.
Its flagship material, ReCeramix™, contains more than 90% recovered waste. Therefore, it offers an alternative to traditional materials such as concrete and marble, which are often carbon-intensive.
Most importantly, the company positions its products as both functional and sustainable. As a result, it targets architects and designers looking for lower-impact material options.
