Amsterdam, Netherlands: Monumental, a construction robotics company, has raised $32 million in a Series B funding round to expand its robotic construction operations and strengthen its engineering capabilities.

The investment round was led by Khosla Ventures. Existing investors, including Hummingbird and Plural, also participated in the financing.

Funding to Support Expansion and Product Development

Monumental plans to use the new capital to grow its hardware and software engineering teams. In addition, the company will increase the number of robots deployed across Europe.

Furthermore, Monumental is preparing to enter the US market later this year. The company also aims to expand the range of construction tasks its robotic systems can perform.

AI-Powered Robots for Construction

Founded in 2021 by Salar al Khafaji, Chief Executive Officer, and Sebastiaan Visser, Chief Technology Officer, Monumental develops robotics and software designed for construction projects.

Its autonomous electric robots combine computer vision, advanced sensors, and crane systems to lay bricks and mortar with millimeter-level accuracy. The robots are managed through the company's AI-powered software platform, Atrium.

Growing Fleet Across Multiple Construction Projects

Monumental currently operates a fleet of more than 150 robots. The company works as an autonomous bricklaying subcontractor for general contractors through its Atrium platform.

So far, its robotic systems have been used to build residential housing, schools, community buildings, hotels, and infrastructure projects across the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
