European construction technology company Strong by Form has secured the first €5.8 million, approximately $6.6 million, of a planned €10 million Series A to accelerate the commercialization of its Woodflow-core structural building system.
The round was led by boisei labs, with participation from CMPC, VX Ventures, Ternel, Savia Ventures, Teampact.ventures, Axel Carbon Capital, Finsa, and several undisclosed family offices.
The funding will help Strong by Form establish manufacturing capacity in Europe, complete certification for its structural timber technology, and begin initial commercial deployments with construction partners.
The company is targeting projects across Spain, France, Germany, and Switzerland as it moves from product development toward wider commercial adoption.
Strong by Form developed Woodflow-core as a structural timber slab designed to compete directly with conventional concrete flooring systems.
According to the company, the system can span up to 10 metres while being approximately 80% lighter than concrete. It also claims to use 75% fewer trees than cross-laminated timber, or CLT.
Importantly, Strong by Form says these performance and resource-efficiency advantages do not require builders to pay a price premium.
That combination is central to the company's strategy: making engineered timber competitive not only on sustainability, but also on structural performance and economics.
The opportunity is substantial.
Strong by Form estimates the global concrete slab market at approximately $120 billion, while timber alternatives currently represent less than $1.5 billion.
Timber has historically struggled to take a larger share of structural construction because existing solutions have not always been able to match concrete simultaneously on strength, span, weight, and cost.
Woodflow-core is designed to address those limitations by creating a lighter structural system that can potentially reduce material requirements while maintaining the performance needed for larger construction applications.
The first Series A close marks an important transition for Strong by Form.
The company now needs to establish the manufacturing infrastructure required to produce Woodflow-core consistently at commercial scale. Certification is another critical milestone, as structural building products must meet stringent technical and regulatory requirements before they can be broadly incorporated into construction projects.
Strong by Form plans to work with construction partners on initial deployments across Spain, France, Germany, and Switzerland.
These projects will provide an opportunity to demonstrate the technology under real-world conditions and validate its performance, economics, installation requirements, and compatibility with existing construction processes.
The company's proposition comes as the construction industry searches for ways to reduce the environmental impact of structural materials.
Concrete remains one of the dominant materials used in construction, while engineered timber offers the potential for lower-weight structural systems and greater use of renewable materials.
Strong by Form's Woodflow-core approach focuses particularly on resource efficiency. The company says its system uses significantly less wood than conventional CLT while remaining substantially lighter than concrete.
If those advantages translate into commercially competitive projects, the technology could help expand the role of engineered timber beyond the applications where it is currently most common.
